Tips On Making Music Work!

Music is huge part of my job… Thank GOD I love it!!

The art of making a spin playlist can be tricky. For me I think it’s incredibly important to play a mix of genres.

Here Are Some Of My Favorite Categories: 80’s, Hip Hop, Brand New, Recognizable New Hits or Old Ones, Fast Tempo, Slow Tempo, Medium Tempo, Male Voices and Female Voices.

Then there is the order of the songs… If you have two slow songs in a row it tends to make the rider lose motivation and focus. If you have two fast songs in a row people who aren’t super fit may feel defeated. Also you have to remember your demographic, giving a variety of sounds opens your class up to a variety of people. If you only play the oldies and you’re in a part of town where people love the oldies you’ll ROCK… But if you’re in a part of town where Hip Hop Rules, your class will not be successful.

6 GREAT PLAYLIST TIPS:

  1. Know your audience
  2. Look to play at least two songs people know or can sing along to.
  3. Change the Tempo within the playlist
  4. If you like a song but the class might not connect to it… explain to them why it’s important to you. Get them on board.
  5. Don’t stick to just one genre. Playing different genres opens your workouts to many different types of people.
  6. Do you! If you’re enjoying the workout 9 times out of 10 so will your students.

It’s a delicate balance that can take hours to create. Making a memorable playlist is something I try to do in every class I teach.

Here are some NEW tunes I found on my endless search for cool workout songs in October. Enjoy The Music!
